A business card designed for a personal trainer and gym instructor. Purple/gold theme with photographs of client worked into the design.
Here’s a set of wedding invitations I was asked to design for a colleague. I was given the preferred colour scheme and this is a fan-open set of 4 leaflets, attached with a golden bind at the bottom circle. Usually leaflets fan open at the top but we decided to bind at the bottom so all the text will be legible and the recipient can hold it better whilst reading. I will try to upload a photo of the finished invites once they are printed.
Here are a couple of books I recently finished and sent to print. I have been very busy recently so haven’t been updating as often as I’d like. Mostly I have been developing my book cover and text layout skills, and gathering momentum on two new projects which will be incorporating a lot of illustration work.
Chester P, one of the pioneers of the UK hiphop scene is playing in Leicester on May 10th. My friend Yasin from The Music Cafe asked me to design a flyer for the night, and here it is. I went for a classic simple design with a new font, Bebas Neue, and a clean cut picture of Chester P at the top. Reknown for his ‘accapellas’ and spoken word poetry, this event will be one of only a few UK shows performed by Chester P for several years, so I’m quite proud to be a part of it.
Here’s a few more book covers which I worked on recently. These should be printed and available to order from Helion/ 30 Degrees this summer. I’m quite pleased with the way they turned out, and as usual I’ve enjoyed working with the publishers who are great in advising me of changes constructively, and helping to communicate with the authors to produce something everyone is proud of.
Some new stuff I’ve been working on at Action Deafness: Covers for a book about a deaf schizophrenic brother, which aren’t finished yet but still in concept stage. Plus some big pull up banners for events. This year we will be publishing a few more books, working on event publicity and some new projects at the charity.
Here’s an interview I did with Helion & Co. over on their blog. I’ve been doing quite a few covers for them so it was good to discuss the ideas behind a few of them and find out more about their publishing company. Thanks to Michelle from Helion for putting this together and talking to me!

Here’s another cover concept that has just been approved. This was tricky as I had to include 4 photos of each main military service, plus the watermarked cross medal in the background.
The cross was intially more of a faded brown colour, but the author wanted it to show up better at thumbnail size so the hue was increased accordingly. After a few developments we have finally agreed on this one and I’m very happy with it!
Hi people, over the last couple of weeks I’ve been very busy at Action Deafness, where I work full time, and at home on my freelance projects. Here’s a finished book cover layout for Action Deafness Books. It was a book about a mother coping with her two son’s deafness, while trying to ‘keep dancing’ which sort of means getting on with her life and not getting down.
I used Illustrator and InDesign to work up this concept which the author likes a lot, and have just finished it off to send to print. The book can be ordered online over on www.actiondeafnessbooks.org.uk
